Volunteer Frances Walker with her cat.

When I began volunteering at the Humane Society in the TLC program a year ago, I had no idea how profoundly I'd be affected when I also became involved with the Pet Pantry Program. I soon had a new vision of food insecurity and the urgent situation of those who are unhoused. It is vital to keep families and pets together, as the companionship of a pet is often the only lifeline between utter despair and hope.

The opportunity to volunteer has made me a caring and passionate advocate for people and animals and I am grateful to grow with this wonderful organization.“
